Realities?

Realities?

Postby MrBlonde267 » Sun Aug 24, 2008 5:39 pm

One of the most interesting differences between the Dark Horse and the other mainstream companies is the type of material. Whereas companies like DC and Marvel have extremely well developed multiverses, Dark Horse is largely composed of a whole bunch of mutually exclusive titles. And I doubt that we're going to see like an alternate Leonidas show up in the Alien vs. Predator universe.

This being said, I don't think I'd have any real heavy objections, but do Dark Horse characters need reality designations? Keep in mind, there's no Earth-Anything in Dark Horse, so that wouldn't be part of it. I think any identically named characters would be infrequent enough that we could just change those if we got them to designigs, and not have to do everybody with something artificial because we're expecting this to happen every week.

I like Dark Horse. DC and Marvel are very complicated places, and I feel like this database could just be a little bit more laid back and less stressful.

Nah, I don't think realities are necessary over there. I'd think the amount of characters with the same name is very small both at Dark horse as well as at Image.

Heheh... on a similar note, what about the naming of the characters themselves? On the other databases, we do our best to use somebody's complete name, i.e. 'Wallace West' instead of 'Wally West'. Using that logic, do I have to name the page for Sin City's singularly named 'Marv' as "Marvin"?

It's hard to say with so few characters. I've left them as their most common name for now, 'Hellboy', and 'Invincible' (in Image), but it's caused hiccups somewhere in the templates that I had to write around before. I say we leave them simple until it's too confusing not to.

Some type of brand or license mention might be helpful. IE, Godzilla, Star Wars, even the Gold Key reprints (Magnus, Solar and... Tarzan is it?)
Jarvis: I don't care how you serve the 'McNuggets' in other places, at Avengers Mansion we mind our silverware.
