Single Appearance

I am in the process of reading and editing the original Detective Comics. Several of the stories in there continue for two comics, and the story "Spy" continues for five. Some characters only appear in that story line and then disappear. Before I started reading them some were marked as single appearance. Do I mark them as single appearance in all of the parts because they only appear in that story line, or do they, because they appear in more than one issue of Detective Comics, not fall under the Single Appearance? Just wanted to be accurate.

I'd say that if they're in more than one comic, they're no longer a 'Single Appearance' character, regardless of the storyline the books are in.
